“Whistler has the mountain bike world at its feet”, you could say in one short sentence.
Whistler Blackcomb offers the most diverse and competitive mountain biking terrain on the globe, all contained inbounds of the resort just 2hrs drive north of Vancouver, Canada. It is without question the centre stage for mountain biking the world over.
While boasting some of the most scenic landscapes imaginable to ride your treadley, don’t forget the 150 miles of single-track trails, 5,000 vertical feet of lift-accessed downhill runs ranging from beginner to pro lines, Jump and obstacle parks. Exclusive Jump runs such as the famous A-line and Dirt Merchant purely for the air-hearted and 20+ miles of paved Valley Trail to grab some fresh air and leisurely exercise or to court that special lady, Whistler has it all.
The Bike Park is serviced by a team of 12 or more full time Bike Park crew that perform daily maintenance and new builds with all the latest equipment and machinery. Guests and staff are supported by a fully dedicated Bike Park Medical patrol crew purely for accident response and trail safety. These guys and gals roam the mountain during operation hours with full radio and medical equipment to keep the Whistler/Blackcomb experience as pleasurable as possible even if you take a spill.
Whistler is the place your Mountain Biking dreams become reality. The hardest thing to do is accept that the human body can only take so much of physical mountain bike stress in one day and the day must draw to an end at some point. But the excitement of tomorrow helps you accept that decision.
Global Ramp Company was lucky enough to be involved with Whistler/Blackcomb throughout the 2008 and 2009 summer biking seasons. As a third party in assistance to special events/construction and project management. Also my personal position on the trial crew 40hrs a week, I was an Integral part of the team that produces world quality Mountain Biking facilities for 2 evolving years as the Summer operations progressed into an even larger entity than what it was before. (Some particular works we carried out are showcased in the photo album)
Never have I seen such a devoted and driven team of Leaders and workers all striving for the best possible facilities that they can give their clients and themselves for a day of pleasure. I feel as though Whistler Bike Park taught us an invaluable lesson in which we carry over into Global Ramp Company and conduct our business on a daily basis. It’s good to learn from the best in the business!
